EmberATX 2018 – Seven Months in React: The Perilous Art of Swimming Upstream

When people ask about why I choose certain tools (Rails, Heroku, Ember, etc.) it can be difficult to justify, and “developer productivity” is a pretty tired cliché at this point.

I wanted to walk through the experiences and thought process from a real work situation, dealing with React and Ember on building Single-Page Applications.

This talk is a journey into why my friend and coworker Chris Freeman and I decided to bail on our janky, hand-rolled React framework and rebuild in Ember instead for the specific project we were on together at the time.
