RubyConf 2018 - The New Manager's Toolkit

Once I’d been managing for a couple years, I’d collected a lot of problems and a few solutions, and felt at the time I was ready to share those with folks.

Looking back, I’d rather have waited till I felt like I had a better handle on the job. That said, I think I can accurately share it as a snapshot of the existential crisis that most new managers face when wondering whether it’s the job for them or not at about the 18-month mark.
